New Beginnings House of Worship Leadership

New Beginnings House of Worship is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Pastors David and Marisol Soto

Our Beloved Pastors

Pastor David Soto met his lovely wife 29 years ago while she was ministering with the very well-known gospel band "Shield of Faith Music Ministry" in Middletown, New York. He was immediately attracted to her passion for Christ and powerful voice. They later married on June 3, 1995 and started their lives together.  It was never a dull moment as David quickly join Marisol in the music ministry taking it to a new level.  He has always been an entrepreneur in spirit and started his own Dental Laboratory.  However, there was always a greater calling for this loving couple.

During their radio program, "New Beginnings," in Poughkeepsie, New York, these radio announcers received a call from the Lord to pastor the sheep in the Hudson Valley.  It was never in their thoughts to assume such a great responsibility, however, God ordained it. God qualifies those He calls. As time passed, and during a trip to the state of Texas, where they were found ministering, David heard an audible voice from the Lord saying, "It's now or never." Their little family was just beginning to develop, their daughter Alexis Marie was three years old and their son Isaiah Alexander was two years old.  They both yielded to God's call in 2005, although it was a terribly lonely mission.

The shepherds, David and Marisol, were the only laborers building this humble church. At the time, they only had the support of the Lord. They open the doors to their home on March 6,  2005 and celebrated their first service at 6:00 pm on 79 Sprague Ave., Middletown, New York. Pastor Marisol led worship for all the services, gave Bible study to the children and ministered during the altar call together with her beloved husband.  Pastor David preached and gave Bible study to the adults.  Sometimes the tasks and responsibilities consumed their strength, but the Holy Spirit gave them new courage and renewed strength towards the mission.  Later, two servants of the Trinity Assemblies of God Church arrived with the permission of their pastor to extend a helping hand to them. It was an answered prayer. Their names, Aurea Brooks and Amelia "Margie" Andino are recorded in the history of this church.  They came to help teach the children Bible School so that Pastor Marisol could work with the young people who were rising in attendance. These servants of the Lord worked hard with Pastors David and Marisol for a period of a year without interest, but seeing the need.  Sisters Aurea and Margie felt in their hearts the desire to sow a grain in the Lord's vineyard.  They encouraged the pastors and were a great blessing to the church.

Day by day, the Lord continue to add souls to the church.  In 2006, Pastors David and Marisol Soto were ordained to ministry by Bishop Robert A. Smith of Rehoboth Christian Center, 36 North Street, Middletown, New York.  The move of God was at the ordination, June 26, 2006, and their children, Alexis and Isaiah were part of the ceremony.  It was a year of great victory's as they also received the church incorporation by  the State of New York and tax exemption status (501c).

God continued to bless the church and the mission quickly outgrow the space and needed to relocate. Pastor David knocked on many church doors and nothing was available. He tried everything he could think of and one day the Lord spoke to him to return back to a church he had originally gone to over a year. When we have faith, believe, and intercede with a purpose to honor God, He speaks.  He makes a way where there was no way.  The doors opened  at the First Baptist Church, 11 Mulberry St., Middletown, New York. We rented from them for several years.  In 2015, First Baptist Church decided to close it's doors and have the Middletown Historical Society take over the property. This news was heartbreaking and under negotiations for over a year.  Pastors David and Marisol were told to start looking for a new location by the governing body of First Baptist Church.  It was then that Pastor David declared that those negotiations would not come to pass.  During a church assembly, Pastor David anointed his hands and the hands of all who were present and declared the church (9-13 Mulberry Street) would be gifted to us. Pastor David anointed the building and continued to believe even when others did not.

In June of 2016, the church was donated to New Beginnings House of Worship for the sum of $100 by First Baptist Church. It was an answered prayer. God's Word came to fruition.  He is Jehova Jireh, our provider.  God has continued to do great exploits at New Beginnings House of Worship.  Lives have been transformed, families have been restored and the hand of God continues to move in every service. Pastors David and Marisol Soto are humble servants. They simply want to make God known everywhere they go. They tend their sheep with love and compassion and are powerful pastors in the hands of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed  away; behold, the new has come."

Revelation 5:13,  "And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever."

Yessenia Canuto

Minister and Director of Usher Committee

Yessenia Canuto was born and raised in Michoacán, Mexico. She immigrated to New York 23 years ago. She works as an operator engineering leather tops for convertible cars.  She arrived to  New Beginnings Church  13 years ago broken, depressed and without the will to live, riddled with fear and anxieties. During the altar call she walked towards the front, not  really understanding what it  meant to give your life to Christ, but having many burdens that she needed relief from. She felt a pull towards Christ the Savior and a strong inner battle; a part of her telling her not to give her life to Christ and a part of her telling her to surrender. She finally gave in and surrendered to the Lord and has remained faithful to Christ ever since. “It was all a process of 3 years with the Lord. He cleaned and restored me, gave me the ability to forgive people that have hurt me and He has transformed my life."

As a Minister, Yessenia is the right hand to the Pastors. She is a woman of prayer and Pastor Marisol's Armor Bearer.  Yessenia leads the Usher Committee and takes reverence in the House of the Lord very seriously.  She is in the cleaning committee and co-chairs in the  Women's Ministry with Deaconess Margie Santiago.  “It has been a process to get to where I am today. It was not overnight, I climbed through the ministry ladder system and was mentored and discipled by our Senior Pastor David Soto. I have walked from victory to victory and glory to glory."

Her goal is to see NBC prosper in Spirit and in Truth and really get to know who Christ is. She is committed to Kingdom building.  Her favorite verse is Psalm 27:10,  “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.”  She states, when she hears that verse she is certain the Lord will never forsake her.

Charlene asked Margie to mentor her and since then she has discipled her in her walk with the Lord. Her first step was to reconciled her life with Christ, coming from the Catholic faith. She has demonstrated her passion to serve the Lord with a willing heart and has gone up the ministry ladder to becoming a Sexton at NBC.

Sexton Charlene serves in every capacity she can with a humble and loving spirit. She works in the cleaning committee, the kitchen committee, and she is a  teacher in the Children’s Ministry. She is always there to help and pray for anyone who is in need in the church and makes herself available to serve God’s people. She hopes that the church multiplies in numbers. She believes, “There are a few of us at the moment but I know that with the Pastors leadership it will grow.”  A Bible verse she holds dearly is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
